Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena Tests Positive for Swine Flu and Admitted to Intensive Care at Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital
The experienced BJP politician was admitted to Sawai Man Singh Hospital after he tested positive for H1N1 flu infection due to the outbreak of seasonal flu in the state.
JAIPUR: The Agriculture Minister of Rajasthan, Dr. Kirori Lal Meena, has tested positive for Swine Flu (H1N1), and subsequently, he was admitted to the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) of Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital, Jaipur.
The BJP politician was admitted to the hospital after getting some flu tests due to symptoms a few days ago and was placed under isolation on Tuesday night, and accordingly, a team of specialists was assigned to his condition.
Undergoing Isolation Treatment
As per the sources at SMS Hospital, Kirori Lal Meena has been placed under infection control measures in the MICU. In order to prevent the spread of H1N1 flu virus, the doctors of SMS have advised that no visitors, including the political supporters and family members visit his isolated room.
“He is receiving treatment following the standard swine flu treatment protocol,” said Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, the principal of SMS Medical College. “He is under the care of a team of specialists, headed by Dr. Mahendra Agrawal, Head of the Department of Medicine.”
Outbreak of Seasonal Flu and H1N1
This comes at a time when there has been a surge in the seasonal flu cases in the northern part of India. It is observed that the number of H1N1 infections in Rajasthan is much higher than last year.
Health minister of the state Gajendra Singh Khimsar had a meeting with the health officials of the department in order to analyze the preparedness of the hospitals in the light of public health and isolation wards and availability of medicines. It has been reported by Gajendra Singh Khimsar that, in view of the fact that the case of Dr. Meena was confirmed, he analyzed the facilities of SMS Hospital and requested the medical board to provide the patient’s continuous care.
It has been mentioned by health officials that H1N1 is a seasonal disease and can be controlled but people suffering from this disease along with other symptoms such as fever and throat infections should consult their doctors.
