Teenage Boy Threatened to Jump Off the Cliff Due to Request for an iPhone; Family of Three Died

CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: Once again the tragic story about the growing issues of the modern Indian youth and their materialistic culture has become known. The whole family of three people became victims of an argument regarding the modern technology. 

The teenager, who desired to obtain the latest smartphone, climbed to the edge of the cliff and threatened to kill himself unless his parents gave him the gadget. Trying to stop the boy, his parents followed him to the cliff and as the result, all three of them fell down. 

Tragic Conflict 

According to the reports of the local police, the conflict between the family members lasted several days before the mentioned tragic accident happened. The young man wanted to have an expensive smartphone but the parents were reluctant to give in to his demands as they could not afford to purchase an expensive device. 

On the day when the accident occurred, the conflict reached its peak. Getting upset, the boy went to the cliff edge and threatened to jump off unless his parents accepted his wishes. 

Scared, his parents followed the boy to prevent him from committing suicide. The witnesses noted that as the boy’s parents tried to stop their son from jumping by holding his hand, all three of them fell down due to the unstable surface of the cliff. 

The Continuing Investigation 

Both the local law enforcement and search and rescue team arrived very quickly after receiving a call from the witnesses. The bodies of the teenager and his parents were recovered, identified, and sent for autopsy after the process. 

“As far as we know, we have filed an accidental death report (ADR) and we are currently investigating the whole situation to find out what exactly had happened,” said an officer from the local police department. “As far as we understand, there were just some unexpected actions where the parents were trying to save their child’s life.” 

This incident has made the people in the neighborhood feel scared and worried. It has sparked a discussion on the psychological and emotional state of children today and the pressure of being tech-savvy consumers.
